When you use our tools, we may collect:
Information you provide directly: your email address and the business information you enter into our calculators — such as industry sector, revenue, EBITDA, growth profile, ownership percentage, equity rollover preferences, and any other details you choose to submit.
Information collected automatically: we use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service that collects anonymised usage data such as page views, referral sources, country, and device type. We also process technical data such as your IP address transiently to operate and secure the service (for example, rate limiting); this is not stored alongside your submission.
We use the information we collect to:
provide and personalise our calculators and generate your estimates; analyse, aggregate and research submissions to understand industry, sector and market trends and to improve our tools and services; understand our users and their businesses, and identify and develop opportunities, products, services or content that may be relevant or of interest to you or your business; contact you about your submission, your business and its potential options, and related opportunities, products or services; operate, maintain, secure and improve the website; and send you marketing communications where you have asked us to or otherwise consented.
We may combine the information you provide with other information available to us, and analyse it on an individual and aggregate basis, for the purposes set out in this policy.
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases. Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to provide the service you requested, to analyse and understand our users and the wider market, to improve our tools, and to send business-relevant communications to business contacts; we balance these interests against your rights. Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for certain marketing communications and, where required, for sharing your information with third parties as described below; you may withdraw consent at any time. Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or list brokers. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
Service providers who process data on our behalf and on our instructions — including our hosting and analytics provider (Vercel), our database provider (Airtable), and our email provider (Resend). They are bound by data processing agreements.
Professional advisers, partners and selected third parties, where relevant to opportunities, products or services that may be of interest to you or your business, and where we have a lawful basis to do so or your consent. We take steps to share only what is appropriate for the purpose.
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or reorganisation of our business. Legal and safety — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect our rights, users or others.
Some of our providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism.
We retain your data for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, to maintain our records, and to comply with our legal obligations, or until you ask us to delete it. We may retain anonymised or aggregated information, which is no longer personal data, indefinitely.
Your data is stored using Airtable and processed through Vercel, with communications delivered via Resend. These providers maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under UK GDPR or other applicable data protection laws, including the right to:
access the personal data we hold about you; rectify inaccurate personal data; erase your personal data; restrict or object to processing (including processing based on legitimate interests, and direct marketing at any time); data portability; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Exit Calc does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our analytics provider (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless. We may use a small cookie to remember your preferred display currency. If we introduce additional cookies in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate consent mechanisms.
Our service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.
